Medals

All Half Marathon finishers will receive a finisher medallion. Pictured below is our 2007 medal.  Check back later in the year to see your 2008 medal.

Divisions

The Gateway Bank Half Marathon will have 3 distinct divisions:
     •  Open (Public) Division
     •  Wheelchair DivisionNC 
     •  RRCA State Championship Division – NC residency required

Military Team Award

A little competition to spice things up!  The biggest Military Team to register for the OBX® Marathon or Gateway Bank Half Marathon will be awarded a revolving team trophy!  Bragging rights good for one year!  When registering, include your military command and branch of service.  Winner to be announced at the Awards Ceremony on race day.

Our 2007 Military Team trophy was awarded to the United States Coast Guard Station in Elizabeth City, North Carolina!

Age Group Awards

Medals will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups (for those under 18, a parent or guardian will have to sign a paper waiver at packet pickup, for his or her child’s participation):

50-54
20-24
55-59
25-29
60-64
30-34
65-69
35-39
70-74
40-44
75-79
45-49
80+

 

Prize Money

The 2008 OBX® Marathon and Half Marathon prize money is over $25,000.  See the 2008 Prize Purse for details. 
NOTE:  Prize money and awards given at the Awards Ceremony on race day will not be revised, should there be a change in race results following the ceremony.

Bonus Prize Money

Bonus awards of $500 each will be given for new course records, and $250 each will be awarded to the first male and female Dare County finishers for both events!The 2008 OBX® Marathon and Half Marathon prize money is $25,000. Check back soon for prize money breakdown.

Surprise Prizes

There will be several surprise awards given! 1587 and 1217 are numbers of significance to Outer Bankers. Better do some research so you can explain why if you happen to be the 1587th finisher!

Boston Marathon Qualifier

We will forward race results to the Boston Athletic Association for runners who meet
Boston’s qualifying standards.
