All Marathon finishers will receive a 2009 finisher medallion. Pictured below is our 2008 "Looking For Adventure!" medal.
Divisions
The Outer Banks Marathon will have 2 distinct divisions:

Open (Public) Division
-
USATF North Carolina Championship Division. Only current 2009 members of NC USATF are eligible to compete in this division. NC USATF memberships for 2009 are available for purchase at www.ncusatf.org.
Military Team Award
A little competition to spice things up! The biggest Military Team to register for the Outer Banks Marathon or Gateway Bank Half Marathon will be awarded a revolving team trophy! Bragging rights good for one year! When registering, include your military command and branch of service. Winner to be announced at the Awards Ceremony on race day.
Our 2008 Military Team trophy was awarded to the 2nd Battallion, 319th 82nd Airborne Division in Fayetteville, North Carolina!
Age Group Awards
Age group medals will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups. For those under 18, a parent or guardian will have to sign a paper waiver at packet pickup, for his or her child’s participation. (See Race Packet Pick Up).

Loot for the Swashbuckler!
The 2009 Outer Banks Marathon and Half Marathon prize money is over $25,000. Check back soon for prize money breakdown.
Prize money and awards given at the Awards Ceremony on race day will not be revised, should there be a change in race results following the ceremony.
Bonus Prize Money
Bonus awards of $500 each will be given for new course records, and $250 each will be awarded to the first male and female Dare County finishers for both events!
Surprise Prizes
There will be several surprise awards given! 1587 and 1217 are numbers of significance to Outer Bankers. Better do some research so you can explain why if you happen to be the 1587th finisher!
