Refund Policy
All net proceeds go to charity; there are no refunds, no deferrals and no transfers, for any reason.
Course Policy
Runners and walkers will be staged in corrals based on predicted finish.
Wave starts will be implemented for both the marathon and the half marathon. This is a requirement from Dare County public safety officials. If you are competing, you may start in the first wave.
Marathon walkers must maintain a 17:30 min/mile pace in order to meet the course time limit and "beat the bridge" at mile 22 before it closes to race participants at 1:50 PM.
The courses are point-to-point. The fastest marathoners will pass half marathoners on a mutual part of the course. Half marathoners and walkers must give marathoners the right of way, and should stay to the right of the road.
No bandits (non-registered participants), strollers, bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, wagons or pets allowed on the course.
Race numbers, timing chips and participant t-shirts must be picked up at the Expo and will not be mailed.
Runners will use the Chronotrack D-Tag system. No other timing chip may be worn. D-Tags must be worn properly to receive a finish time and be eligible for awards. Information about the Chronotrack D-Tag can be found at www.lin-mark.com/chipinfo.htm.
Wheelchair Event Rules
Rim chairs are allowed
Mechanical gears or levers shall be allowed, which may be used to propel the chair
Only hand-operated, mechanical steering devices will be allowed
Hand crank cycles or chairs are NOT permitted. Exception: participants not interested in being timed, can ride the course as an Exhibition race.
Every participant must wear a Chronotrack D-Tag positioned as low to the ground and as far forward on the chair as possible.
